SPRINGFIELD, MO — September 21, 2026
Springfield's comedy scene had a major weekend as nationally recognized comedian and actor Aries Spears brought his stand-up show to the Springfield Comedy Club, the downtown venue formerly known as the Blue Room Comedy Club.
Spears performed a multi-day run in Springfield from September 17 through September 20, giving local comedy fans multiple opportunities to see the veteran performer live. His scheduled shows included performances throughout Thursday, Friday and Saturday, followed by a Sunday evening show on September 20.
The appearance was part of Spears' larger 2026–2027 national tour, which includes stops across the United States and an upcoming European run. His official tour announcement describes the tour as featuring new material alongside the celebrity impressions and crowd work that have been part of his stand-up career.
A Veteran of MADtv
Spears is perhaps best known nationally for his years as a principal cast member on Fox's sketch-comedy series MADtv. During his run on the show, Spears became known for celebrity impressions and recurring characters, helping establish himself as one of the recognizable comedians of the program's era.
His career has also extended into film and television. His credits include appearances in Jerry Maguire, The Pest and other television and film projects. The Springfield Comedy Club describes Spears as a performer whose comedy career began at a young age and developed through stand-up, sketch comedy, acting and television appearances.
A Big Booking for Springfield's Comedy Scene
Spears' Springfield appearance also reflects the continued effort to bring nationally touring comedy acts into the local market.
The Springfield Comedy Club, located at 420 W. College Street, regularly hosts touring headliners alongside local comedy programming and open-mic events. The venue's current calendar already includes additional touring comedians scheduled throughout late September and October.
The club took over the former Blue Room Comedy Club location and operates under new management, continuing the space's role as a dedicated stand-up comedy venue in downtown Springfield.
For the Spears shows, the club listed the performances as 18+ events, with premium seating available near the front of the room and general admission seating offered on a first-come basis. The venue also maintained its standard two-item minimum for ticketed shows.
Keeping National Comedy in the Ozarks
With nationally recognized comedians continuing to make stops in Springfield, the local comedy market is becoming another important part of the city's entertainment industry.
Spears' four-day run provided an opportunity for Springfield audiences to see a comedian with decades of experience without having to travel to a larger Midwest market. His appearance also adds to a September entertainment calendar that has included concerts, theater, comedy and other live events throughout the city.
As Springfield continues developing its entertainment scene, bookings such as the Aries Spears run demonstrate the role local venues can play in connecting Ozarks audiences with established performers from around the country.
Aries Spears' Springfield run concluded Sunday, September 20, marking another notable national comedy booking for the city's growing live-entertainment calendar.
